Frank Lampard makes final decision on Coventry City future after private talks

Frank Lampard is poised to commit his future to Coventry City despite speculation linking him with other Premier League jobs, with negotiations over a new contract now at an advanced stage.

The Chelsea legend guided his swashbuckling Coventry side to promotion in style last season, with the Sky Blues plundering a remarkable 97 goals on their way to the Championship title. Lampard has earned plenty of plaudits for elevating the club to the next level after taking charge back in November 2024, with his managerial stock at an all-time high as a result of his first promotion.

Whispers that Lampard could leave Coventry this summer have been rife amid interest from top-flight clubs , notably Crystal Palace and Fulham , the latter of whom are still searching for a new head coach.

But it won't be Lampard, with The Telegraph reporting that the 47-year-old is now extremely close to signing a new deal.

The news will come as a significant boost to Coventry as they ramp up their preparations for what will be their first Premier League campaign in 25 years.

Lampard has just one year remaining on his current deal. However, the former England midfielder is said to be settled at the club and has been working on preparations for the new season with Coventry's owner, Doug King.

Both Crystal Palace and Fulham have both been credited with an interest in Lampard's services after losing Oliver Glasner and Marco Silva respectively at the end of their contracts.

Palace have since appointed Pierre Sage as their new manager off the back of the Frenchman's impressive stint at Lens. He was named as the Ligue 1 Manager of the Year for his work last season, guiding Lens to a maiden Coupe de France trophy and Europa Conference League qualification.

Fulham are understood to be interested in Alvaro Arbeloa, who is unattached after leaving Real Madrid earlier this month.

The former Liverpool defender took charge of the Spanish giants on an interim basis following the departure of Xabi Alonso. However, his exit was confirmed by Los Blancos when they confirmed that Jose Mourinho , Lampard's former Chelsea manager, would return to the Bernabeu for a second spell in charge.
