Manchester United are reportedly in talks with a League One outfit over a loan transfer for Ethan Wheatley .
Earlier today, United released a statement confirming that Wheatley has been recalled from his loan spell with Northampton Town.
Wheatley joined Northampton in the summer to gain valuable first-team experience . He endured a slow start to life at the club but his fortunes eventually improved and he went on to become a key player under Kevin Nolan.
He made 25 appearances for the Cobblers, contributing three goals during that period.
According to the Manchester Evening News’ Steven Railston, United deemed Wheatley’s loan at Northampton a successful one.
However, the Red Devils decided that they would prefer him to develop elsewhere.
