Yankuba Minteh remains an injury doubt for Brighton as Fabian Hurzeler’s side prepare for Wednesday’s Premier League clash with Manchester City .

Minteh was forced off in the second half of Brighton’s 2-2 draw with West Ham just prior to the New Year with a suspected thigh injury.

Scans revealed that the 21-year-old had only suffered a dead leg, although he was unavailable for last weekend’s 2-0 home win over Burnley .

The fixtures continue to come thick and fast in the Premier League, with Brighton now preparing for a trip up to the Etihad Stadium to take on second-place City.

And speaking in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Hurzeler confirmed that Minteh is ‘still not perfect’ and only has a ‘minor’ chance of playing against Pep Guardiola ’s side.

The Brighton boss also confirmed that Mats Wieffer remains sidelined due to a toe injury.

Solly March, Adam Webster and Stefanos Tzimas all remain longer-term absentees.

Elsewhere, Kaoru Mitoma could start his second successive game after his return from injury, while Pascal Gross could make his first start since re-joining the club from Borussia Dortmund earlier this month.

City, meanwhile, are dealing with an injury crisis of their own after Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias picked up injuries in the second half of their 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday.

Gvardiol limped off after a tangle with Malo Gusto, but is now set for an extended spell on the sidelines after City confirmed he had broken his shinbone and will require surgery.

John Stones is still out with an injury, meaning Abdukodir Khusanov and Nathan Ake could be City’s only two fit centre-backs for Wednesday’s clash with Brighton.

‘Of course, we have a lot (of injuries at centre back),’ Guardiola said on Sunday. ‘John Stones is missing for I don’t know how many months. Ruben now will be out, Josko will be out.

‘Nathan (Ake), as we know cannot play regularly, so it’s a situation. But at the same time, it happened last season, so we’ll stay strong and we’ll find a solution. The spirit will be there.’
