Veteran Walker Zimmerman, a two-time MLS Defender of the Year and multiple Best XI honoree, signed with Toronto as a free agent, adding a true defensive leader into a team looking to retool.
His experience in MLS , including Supporters’ Shields and U.S. Open Cup titles, gives Toronto a foundation-building piece at the heart of defense as they aim get back to the top of the table in the Eastern conference — where they feel they should be regulars.

San Jose and MLS fans alike were utterly shocked when Espinoza's contract was not extended in San Jose, seeing one of the most productive attacking players in the league leave on a free.
The greatest benefactor of the bizzare decision was Nashville , who picked up the winger to add to their already strong attacking ranks.
Since joining San Jose in 2019, Espinoza ranks second in MLS in assists with 83 and fourth in goal contributions with 119. Now that's a high-quality free agent pickup.

Inter Miami continued to flex its offseason muscle by landing Sergio Reguilón, the Spanish defender with Premier League pedigree. Reguilón gives Miami proven quality at left back after losing Jordi Alba .
The 29-year-old's career across the Atlantic has faltered in recent years, but in Miami he may have found an environment where he can thrive once again without as much as pressure as Europe.

D.C. United have perhaps been the busiest Eastern Conference team outside of Inter Miami this winter, adding a handful of key pieces as they look to pull themselves out of the doldrums.
The biggest of those moves was certainly the addition of Philadelphia Union striker Tai Baribo. The Israel international bagged 16 goals in 25 games last season, and was what once the favorite for the Golden Boot before slowing down in the back-half of the campaign.

In what was arguably the biggest surprise move of the offseason so far, MLS’s 2025 Goalkeeper of the Year chose Inter Miami in free agency, rejecting big-money offers to stay with Minnesota United .
His signing gives Miami a top-tier number-one between the sticks and makes a great team even better in the short to medium-term.
Goalkeeper has been a position of weakness for Miami since coming into the league, despite the quality showings of Rocco Ríos Novo in the 2026 playoffs.
