Sunderland seek revenge as they take on Fulham in mid-table clash

Sunderland and Fulham are preparing to clash at the Stadium of Light after patchy runs of form from both.

The two teams are sitting right next to one another in the Premier League table, with Sunderland just ahead in 11th with 36 points and Fulham in 12th with 34.

After a belting start to the season, Sunderland’s recent form has dipped a little. They have bagged three wins and three losses from their last six matches, scoring an average of 1.17 goals while conceding 1.33 per game.

The Black Cats are particularly strong at home, having won two of their last three, and lost only one of 13 so far this season.

Before the loss to Liverpool, Sunderland went 12 games unbeaten at home (7 wins, 5 draws), the longest such run for a newly promoted side since the 1977/78 season. The team has been noted for late shows at home, including a 90+6 minute winner against Brentford (2–1) and a 90+4 minute equaliser against Arsenal.

Fulham have recorded two wins and four defeats in their last six matches, also averaging 1.17 goals scored. However, the West Londoners are less secure at the back, conceding 1.83 per game. When on the road, Fulham take a slightly more aggressive approach, averaging 13 shots per match versus Sunderland’s 11.17.

The last two meetings at the Stadium of Light have seen each team claim one victory. Sunderland most recently played Fulham on 22 November 2025, suffering a 1–0 defeat at Craven Cottage. This loss ended an impressive five-match unbeaten run for Sunderland, who were then 4th in the table.
