Awkward incident has done little to smooth over Dane’s relationship with fans

Thomas Frank has issued an explanation after he was spotted sipping from an Arsenal-branded cup ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League defeat by Bournemouth.

Fans were whipped into a frenzy after photos of the incident emerged during the match, but Frank insists he had no idea what was printed on the cup.

Speaking after the match, he said: “I definitely did not notice it. It would be completely stupid of me to take it if I knew.

“It's a little bit sad in football that I need to be asked about it. I would never do something that stupid.

"I think we're definitely going in the wrong direction if we need to worry about me having a cup with another logo of another club.

“Of course, I would never do that. That's extremely stupid."
