Ruben Amorim's sacking means it is all change once again at Manchester United . The Portuguese head coach was dismissed on Monday, bringing to an end his poor spell in charge.

Amorim departs with the worst record of any Red Devils manager in the Premier League era, as well as their lowest ever finish, 15th last season. The issues that eventually counted against him were evident in the early days. Amorim was determined to play his way, according to his philosophy. That meant the implementation of a 3-4-3 formation and almost no pragmatism. That challenged the players, many of whom were playing the system for the first time. Others were also just not cut out for certain roles.

Nevertheless he persevered, but results didn't come. There were numerous low points and very few players have come out of the Amorim-era with their stock enhanced. Now though there are new beginnings, albeit several men may occupy the dugout in the coming months such is United's succession planning.

Darren Fletcher will come in initially, then we'll have a caretaker until the end of the season before they go after the next Mr.Right in the summer. Whoever that will be.

But there's no doubt, from a playing point of view, that some players may privately be happy to see the back of Amorim. Others maybe less so. We take a look at how movement in the dugout changes the landscape on the red side of Manchester with some individuals standing to benefit whilst others may face questions or uncertain futures.

No player endured a decline from the Erik ten Hag tenure to the Amorim one quite like the midfielder. Mainoo was scoring goals in the FA Cup final, leading to England exploits, when the Dutchman was in charge. He looked accomplished, confident and the man to spearhead the future of the club.

Amorim didn't see it that way and minutes became hard to come by for the academy star, so much so that moves away were consistently speculated. He's not started a Premier League game this season, but that could now be about to change with many inside the club fully believing in his talents.

Even during the lows under Amorim the playmaker was one man who continued to stand up. Surprising then that he was linked with a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia, yet he remains and is still the talisman at Old Trafford. His issues this season have been the deeper role he's had to accept. Playing as part of the two-man midfield - it ultimately stunted what he could offer in the final third. A lot of that was down to the lack of a 10 spot in Amorim's formation, but a new manager may likely revert to a system that allows Fernandes to be front and centre and operating in his best position.

You name them and they're probably happy. With the possible exception of Patrick Dorgu, who was signed under Amorim's watch. All of the players at United were bought in as conventional full-backs. So when they were asked to play as wing-backs, a very specific position, it was a steep learning curve.

Some adapted better than others, but it wasn't natural. So the likes of Luke Shaw , Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui may be happy knowing that they're set to revert back to remits that they're far more comfortable with. And players like Amad, fundamentally attacking players, will also know that there's little danger of them being transitioned into wing-backs.

Another big decision from the Ineos supremo and another one that he's got wrong. Ratcliffe's report card is looking worse with each passing call. He backed Ten Hag, sacked Ten Hag, now he's sacked Amorim. This is ultimately a man with sporting experience but no football experience, and sooner rather than later people will question whether he's competent enough to make the big decisions.

Its worth remembering that the men he's put in place to run the club, Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox, are operating with his say so. You thought he needed to get the Amorim appointment right - well this next hire may prove the making or not of his ownership.

This could go two ways - and it depends what Rashford is thinking. Part of him may long for a return to Manchester and the sacking of Amorim could aid that. But equally those within his circle have claimed that a move to Barcelona is his dream. He's there on loan and was eyeing a permanent move. Any new manager in the door may see his exploits in Spain and think 'no, he's a player I can work with', and that may curtail a move to La Liga .

Ratcliffe has presided over huge redundancies. Claiming that, as his mother said, if you look after the pennies the pounds look after themselves. So seemingly a £10million pay-off wasn't on the agenda, but that's what its cost to get rid of Amorim. Plenty questioned how United spent so much on players in the summer and now they've had to find more cash to change their head coach. Big clubs seem to be able to circumnavigate the PSR dangers, but even still, this was not budgeted for.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
