Senegal and Egypt go head-to-head on Thursday evening in an Africa Cup of Nations semi-final. And former Liverpool star Sadio Mane will have the support of his wife, Aisha Tamba, whom he married when she was 18 years old.

Senegal have conceded just two goals in the competition so far on their way to the final four, beating Mali 1-0 in their quarter-final clash. The former Reds winger has one goal to his name in the tournament, but it is now Egypt and former team-mate Mohamed Salah who stand in his way.

The 33-year-old Al Nassr ace and Aisha tied the knot in January 2024 , when she was reportedly 18. It is claimed they first met two years prior through family. Here Mirror Football takes a look at their relationship.

In 2024, just as Mane and Senegal were preparing to defend their AFCON crown, having beaten Egypt in the 2021 final, the former Liverpool star exchanged vows with Aisha.

This took place at an Islamic ceremony in Keur Massar, Dakar, Senegal, in the home of Mane's wife. Family and friends of both the bride and groom were in attendance.

According to Aisha's father, she first met Mane, who is 13 years older than her, when she was 16, and the pair did not date before getting married. Amadou Tamba said: "My wife and Aisha visited their (Mane's) family one day, and this is where he met her for the first time.

"He probably saw something special in her, and his parents appreciated her as well. They came to see me. We discussed, as per the tradition, agreed on everything and waited for this day to happen. They were not dating because Aisha was still young."

Later in 2024, there was reason for celebration once again as both Mane and Aisha celebrated the teenager's graduation from school as she received her baccalaureate.

According to reports, Mane had hoped to go on a honeymoon after their wedding and the subsequent AFCON tournament, but Aisha's family wanted her to stay and focus on her studies ahead of her final exams.

In June of that year, a video on social media showed Mane celebrating with Aisha as she received her results and completed secondary education. She reportedly obtained her diploma with a passable distinction.

In March 2025, roughly 14 months after the pair tied the knot, a 19-year-old Aisha gave birth to the couple's first child, a baby girl. Mane dedicated a goal for Al Nassr to his newborn soon after the birth, using a cradling gesture during a 3-1 win against Al-Kholood.

But according to Mane, if it were up to him, he would welcome a few more new additions to the family, though he insists that it is ultimately down to God.

Speaking to Senepeopleplus when asked how many children he would like, Mane said: "Funny question. If it is just a choice, I would say 3 or 4. Except that it is God who decides and I will thank him no matter what."

It was then put to the Senegal star if he would be open to having even more children than this, namely six or seven, to which he replied: "Maybe, you never know."
