Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney offer Las Vegas trip to Coventry before crucial Wrexham match

Wrexham’s Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have extended a unique invitation to newly crowned Championship title winners Coventry City : a first-class trip to Las Vegas.

The offer comes ahead of the two clubs’ Sky Bet Championship meeting this weekend.

Coventry secured the Championship title in emphatic fashion on Tuesday, clinching a dominant 5-1 victory over Portsmouth. This triumph marks their return to the Premier League after a 25-year absence from English football’s top flight.

Wrexham, meanwhile, harbour their own ambitions of reaching the Premier League and are currently battling for a play-off spot with just two matches remaining. The Welsh side sit sixth in the table, occupying the final play-off position, but are only ahead of seventh-placed Hull City on goal difference.

Following a crucial 1-0 win at Oxford on Tuesday, which saw them move above Hull - who drew 2-2 with Leicester - Wrexham are set to travel to face the Sky Blues on Sunday.

Co-owner Rob McElhenney took to X to make the playful offer, stating: "Congrats to Coventry City!!!! My friend Ryan Reynolds and I would like to offer you a first-class trip to Vegas. Please be ready in the am and be back in time for kick-off on Sunday. A little late is okay too."

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson expressed confidence in his side’s promotion chances after Tuesday’s win.

"The (Premier League) dream is still alive and we feel we’re in a good place," he said.

"Nothing more we can do than win and we just concentrated on making right decisions from the bench and getting another three points. To get 70 points is a good statement in our first season in the Championship and now we want more. It was important we did our job and we did that to a man."

Wrexham will follow their Coventry fixture with a home match against fifth-placed Middlesbrough on the final day of the season.
