PSV exercise purchase option on Bayer Leverkusen loanee formerly of Manchester United

PSV have announced that they have activated the purchase option as part of the loan deal for goalkeeper Matej Kovar . The Czech goalkeeper joined in the summer on loan from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen , a deal which included an option to buy. After impressing as the sides first choice goalkeeper this season, PSV have decided to make the move permanent. It is reported that the transfer will cost PSV between €5-7m.

Kovar was one of two goalkeepers signed by the defending champions last summer. Nick Olij was the other, but Kovar won the battle for the starting spot. So far he has played 26 games for PSV . The former Manchester United youth player has had an interesting career despite only being 25. He has had spells with Burton and Swindon as well as Sparta Prague. In 2023 he joined Leverkusen and went on to play 32 games for the club. So far he has kept five clean sheets in the Eredivisie for PSV .
