Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has previously claimed he would "say yes every day of the week" if Manchester United came calling for a second time.
The Norwegian spent almost three years in charge at Old Trafford before he was sacked in November 2021. He secured third and second place finishes during his tenure and reached a Europa League final before things fell apart in his final weeks. Solskjaer, scorer of the goal that won United the Champions League in 1999, regularly referenced his love for the club and its traditions during his time in charge - and he has reiterated that fondness in the years since his departure.
It was in September 2024, when Erik ten Hag was still in charge, that Solskjaer admitted during a Q&A at the Oslo Business Forum that he would answer the call - whenever, wherever - if it came his way again.
He said: "If the family [United] asks, I would say yes every day of the week. It feels wrong to talk about jobs that other people have now, but I would say yes, of course."
Solskjaer is currently among the bookies favourite to be the next permanent manager in Manchester. Oliver Glasner is another man heavily linked with the role but the Austrian is at Crystal Palace , who want to keep him, whilst Solskjaer is a man out of a job and readily available.
He won 91 of his 168 games, leaving him with a win percentage of 54. Above the likes of Ruben Amorim and David Moyes . It was Erik ten Hag who would eventually replace Solskjaer on a permanent basis after the Norwegian was sacked following a humiliating loss at Watford .

He's since had a brief stint at Besiktas, but during his time at Old Trafford built a team that, on paper, had people taking United up. He signed the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo , Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes - the latter proving a huge success.
Solskjaer said when he left: "The board and the owners have backed me in [terms of] bringing good people in, good players in and I think, or I know, I leave this club with a better squad. The environment is fantastic, it’s an environment I’m proud of leaving because you have to enjoy coming in here working."
