Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appointment backed by United superstars
Manchester United are currently preparing for life after Ruben Amorim, with the Portuguese receiving his marching orders on Monday.
Current United U18 boss and former midfielder Darren Fletcher has been placed in charge until INEOS can find a suitable replacement.
The plan is to hire an interim till the end of the current campaign, before trying to bring someone in permanently over the summer, as there will be a larger pool of options to choose from.
Treble winner and former United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly the favourite to take over temporarily, with INEOS even meeting the Norwegian to discuss the possibility.
Interestingly, as per Talksport , the ex-Besiktas boss is keen to be added to the list of permanent targets, provided he does well during his time in the hot seat.
His appointment has the backing of several superstars in the squad, including skipper Bruno Fernandes and former captain Harry Maguire . Both were brought to the club by the 52-year-old.
Interestingly, pundits and ex-players like Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville have also thrown their weight behind the appointment.
“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is inching closer to a sensational return to Manchester United , talkSPORT understands.
“Former Red Devils player and manager Solskjaer is in advanced talks to become United’s interim head coach for the rest of the season.
“Solskjaer has the support of several first-team players including captain Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire . It is thought fellow club legends including Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville have also thrown their backing behind their ex-teammate.
“The Norwegian fans’ favourite hopes if he does well then he would be considered for the job full-time.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had guided the club to third and second-place finishes in the Premier League, the first time the club managed back-to-back top-four finishes post Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
