Manchester United ‘to target’ Murillo as Maguire replacement this summer
Daily Mail reports that Manchester United are weighing a summer move for Nottingham Forest centre-back Murillo, rated among the Premier League's leading young defenders.
He is seen as a potential successor to Harry Maguire , whose deal ends this season and is not expected to be extended, with a move eyed for the window before 2026/27.
Corinthians are tracking developments because they hold 10% of any profit from a future sale. The Brazilian club included the clause when selling Murillo in 2023 for 12 million euros plus two million in bonuses.
In 2025 it emerged that Corinthians do not own 10% of a future fee, but of Nottingham Forest’s profit on any deal. The then president, Duilio Monteiro Alves, described the earlier communication as an error.
There is an expectation that Murillo could become the biggest sale in Forest’s history. A 70 million euros transfer would yield 5.6 million euros for Corinthians .
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have also shown interest in recent years. Forest kept the defender during their return to continental competition, but may be open to a sale next season, with the team fighting relegation in England and occupying a Europa League play-off berth.
