Manchester City determined to sign Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi this month
Manchester City are desperate to bring in defensive reinforcements in the winter transfer window .
Josko Gvardiol, Ruben Dias and John Stones are all injured at the moment, leaving Pep Guardiola’s side severely short of options in defence.
According to journalist Miguel Delaney , City are intent on signing Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi this month.
The 25-year-old’s preference had been to wait until the summer when he would have better offers from other clubs.
Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have been interested in the England international, as well as Arsenal and Liverpool.
But City are most actively seeking a transfer this winter. They are intent on persuading both Guehi and Palace to secure a deal, and are prepared to match other offers.
The experienced defender came close to joining Liverpool last summer, but the Eagles blocked the move on the deadline day.
It remains to be seen whether Palace would cash in on their player this month or let him leave on a free at the end of his contract in June.
Guehi has started 25 Premier League matches this campaign, with five direct goal contributions to his name.
The Palace skipper endured a difficult weekend as his team lost 2-1 to sixth-tier Macclesfield in one of the biggest upsets in the FA Cup history.
He was seen engaged in heated discussions with the travelling fans after the final whistle.
It is unclear whether Guehi chose to speak to the disgruntled supporters or was simply escaping the pitch invasion.
