Former Premier League manager Tim Sherwood has declared that Benjamin Sesko isn't of the calibre required to represent Manchester United , despite the forward netting twice in Wednesday's 2-2 stalemate with Burnley .

Sesko found the back of the net on two occasions in the second period at Turf Moor , giving Darren Fletcher's squad the advantage following Ayden Heaven's earlier own goal. Jaidon Anthony equalised shortly afterwards to secure a point for the hosts.

For Sesko, these were his first goals for United since scoring in the 2-0 victory over Sunderland on October 4. The forward had been sidelined for four matches with a knee problem before enduring a five-game drought.

His opening strike against the Clarets demonstrated classic centre-forward play as he pounced on Bruno Fernandes ' through ball, before he went on to clinically finish Patrick Dorgu's delivery in the second period. He nearly completed his maiden hat-trick in England, but ex-United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka thwarted him.

Following the match, Sky Sports analysed the striker's display at Burnley, with Jamie Redknapp offering glowing praise. Sherwood, however, wasn't convinced and was reminded that he'd suggested Sesko should be substituted at the interval.

"I think the positive is Sesko scoring two goals," he commented. "Hopefully he gets some confidence from that. He's took six months to turn up at Man United. I am pleased for the lad, he has had a tough run of it.

"I had him off the pitch at half time, never wear a Man United shirt again. I stand by what I say, he's not good enough to play for Man United.

"He's turned up for one game against Burnley who are going to get relegated. Fair play to him, hopefully he gets some confidence and we start seeing something different from him."

Gary Neville commended Sesko after he skilfully redirected Dorgu's cross. "Bingo time for Benjamin Sesko," he declared.

"We've not seen him smile much and his team mates are revelling in it with him.

"He's got in between the centre-backs all night, and he does it again. That's a really good finish. Manchester United have been really good in this second half."

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
