Luis Enrique issues update on his Paris Saint-Germain future
Luis Enrique has moved to calm speculation over his future at Paris Saint-Germain, insisting he remains relaxed about ongoing talks and unfazed by growing external noise around his contract situation.
In recent days, the PSG coach has found himself at the centre of intense rumours suggesting he has rejected an extension in search of a new challenge and could walk away from the Parc des Princes before his deal expires in 2027.
The PSG hierarchy, including sporting director Luis Campos, has already branded those stories “fake news”, and now Enrique has underlined the same message from the dugout.
“These are rumours always going around PSG ,” the Spaniard said in a pre-match press conference (h/t Fabrizio Romano) .
“We’re used to it, it’s private, and it will remain that way. There are a lot of fake news.
“They are trying to destabilise the players and the team, but none of that is going to happen.”
Enrique also stressed that discussions over his long‑term role in Paris are progressing without drama behind the scenes.
“It’s normal to have negotiations, but it remains private,” he added.
“We know what we want, and that’s the most important thing. In that sense, we’re calm and relaxed.”
Under Enrique’s guidance, PSG have combined domestic dominance with renewed European success, ending their wait for a maiden Champions League title last season.
This campaign, Les Parisiens have also claimed the FIFA Intercontinental Cup and, most recently, the Trophée des Champions after beating Olympique de Marseille via penalties on Thursday.
