Lea Schuller: United Women star continues rich vein of international form

Manchester United Women had a host of players on international duty across the world on Tuesday.

The German has had a quiet start to life as a United player, but the goals have continued to flow for her national side.

She scored the fifth goal of Germany’s 5-1 destruction of Austria in World Cup qualifying. Schüller received the ball just outside the box, beat an opponent off the dribble, and unleashed an unstoppable drive into the bottom right of the goal that sneaked in off the post.

Zigiotti played 90 minutes of Sweden’s heart-breaking 2-1 loss to Denmark, as they conceded in the 91st minute to lose the match at home.

Her club teammate Fridolina Rolfö also came on for the final 20 minutes of the match. Hanna Lundkvist was left on the bench.

The United youngster kept a clean sheet as Wales thrashed Albania 4-0 in an excellent result.

Mared Griffiths, who is on loan at Sunderland this season, completed a hat-trick of assists on a highly productive evening for the Welsh.

United’s in-form attacker Malard also played 90 minutes as France lost 2-1 to the Netherlands in World Cup qualifying. Dominique Janssen did not play for the Dutch.

United’s number one started for the Americans in their 1-0 friendly defeat to Japan.

She made four saves , with two coming from shots inside the box. Tullis-Joyce punched the ball clear once and also made a high claim to protect her goal.

She was also excellent on the ball, completing 97% of her passes.

Miyazawa played the final 21 minutes of Japan’s victory over the USA.

She had little impact on the match, completing just four passes and losing her only ground duel.

Awujo played the final 16 minutes in Canada’s 3-1 win over South Korea in a friendly match.

She completed 63% of her passes and had one shot on target for the Canadians.

Awujo also made one dribble attempt and won two duels.

Riviere also played the final 31 minutes of Canada’s friendly win.

She won her only tackle , made two clearances, and an interception.

Riviere came out on top in six of her nine duel attempts. The full-back was also good going forward, successfully completing both her dribble attempts.
