Jürgen Klopp speaks out on Real Madrid job speculation after Xabi Alonso sacking

Following Xabi Alonso's dismissal as Real Madrid coach, Jürgen Klopp has been mentioned as a potential candidate to replace him.

However, the former Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool head coach has now made it clear that he is happy in his current role as Red Bull’s Head of Global Soccer and has no interest in the job in the Spanish capital.

“This has nothing to do with me and doesn’t affect me at all,” Klopp told ServusTV.

“Coaching jobs are always changing, and it’s fine to watch from the sidelines without worrying about what it might mean for you personally, because where I am now is the right place for me.”

On Alonso’s sacking, Klopp expressed sympathy for the former Bayer Leverkusen coach, who had only taken charge last summer.

“It’s a sign that not everything is 100 percent right there if Xabi Alonso, who showed over two years at Leverkusen what an outstanding coaching talent he is, has to leave Real Madrid just six months later,” Klopp said.

"If you take over from a legendary coach like Carlo Ancelotti, who had a very clear way of running his team, it’s very hard to come in and change things. That’s what made the situation too difficult for Xabi Alonso. I really feel sorry for him, because I think he’s a great coach."

Klopp, 58, began his work as Red Bull's Head of Global Soccer about a year ago.
