Brathwaite appeared to pick up the injury when trying to shield the ball in the Everton penalty area. He initially tried to continue, but went down clutching his hamstring.
As medics attended to him, the defender looked emotional, indicating that he believed it could be a season-ending injury.
It could also impact the centre-back's hopes of making a late push for Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad.

He has since made 10 appearances in the Premier League as he re-established himself in the Everton starting XI.
The two injuries to Mamardashvilli and Branthwaite resulted in 11 minutes of injury time being added on at the end of the match.
In a late twist, Virgil van Dijk scored a dramatic winner for Liverpool in the final of those added minutes, to earn a crucial 2-1 victory for Arne Slot's side.
The win means that Liverpool are in fifth place in the table, seven points clear of Chelsea in sixth. Everton are in 10th place, level on points with Brighton and just one point off seventh-placed Brentford.
