Inside Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's luxurious £4m mansion that Liverpool ace once called home

Manchester United are searching for a new manager following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim , with the club's hierarchy weighing up their options. At present, appointing a permanent successor to the Portuguese head coach in the summer appears the most probable route at Old Trafford, meaning an interim boss will take charge for the remainder of the campaign, with European qualification still within reach for several sides in the Premier League table.
Whilst Darren Fletcher is currently holding the fort , United could look to the well-known figure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer , who experienced a successful spell as caretaker before securing the manager's position permanently. Speculation about discussions over a temporary arrangement for the Norwegian tactician could see him 'back at the wheel' once again.
Solskjaer enjoyed just under three years at the helm at Old Trafford, taking charge of 168 games, with 92 wins across all competitions. The 52-year-old was recently seen in Cheshire , where he is still believed to own a £4m property, which could hint towards his return to United in the near future.
His home is situated in Alderley Edge, an area favoured by numerous high-profile figures - including Christine McGuinness , Kerry Katona , Manchester City's Erling Haaland and Coleen and Wayne Rooney , whilst Victoria and David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo previously resided in the vicinity. Solskjaer purchased his property, initially a cottage, and converted it into an "eco mansion", with construction commencing in 2007.

The former Manchester United player took some time before relocating with his family, having spent a period in Norway following the conclusion of his playing days. This prompted him to list it for sale, but when a buyer couldn't be found, reports suggested he rented it out to Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk .
Solskjaer ultimately settled into the residence permanently in 2019 upon his return to Old Trafford, with the luxury home boasting 3.4 acres of surrounding land. When the property was marketed back in 2016, the estate agents' brochure highlighted its features, stating: "[The property] is an impressive contemporary style recently constructed detached family residence in extensive grounds of approximately 3.4 acres with impressive leisure complex with pool.

"[It] is a charming quiet, cobbled road on the outskirts of Alderley Edge enjoying a delightful rural setting. The village centre which is within a few minutes drive offers an excellent range of shopping, educational and recreational facilities with a wealth of quality cafes and fine restaurants."
The estate agent continued: "[The home] enjoys extensive mature grounds surrounding the property with sweeping lawns, mature trees and shrubs with open views beyond.
"Natural wood electrically operated double gates to the front where a sweeping gravel driveway provides excellent parking facilities and leads to an attached garage."

The property also includes a pool room alongside a media room, comparable to the cinema rooms frequently found in other footballers' residences. Given that Solskjaer is thought to still own the property and has been seen back in Cheshire, there's a chance he and his family could return to the house if he's brought in for an interim period.

For now, like every United fan, he'll be keeping a close eye on the team as they gear up for a series of intriguing matches under Fletcher's leadership. His tenure as interim starts against Burnley in midweek, before a clash with Brighton in the FA Cup third round over the weekend.
It remains to be seen whether another appointment could then be made in time for the Manchester derby taking place on January 17. If Solskjaer is the man in charge, then it may give United the boost that they need to get another win over Pep Guardiola and the "noisy neighbours".
The Norwegian coach has four wins and one draw in nine encounters with his Spanish counterpart, which may give the side an edge during an uncertain few weeks and months ahead. Former United star Michael Carrick is also thought to be in contention for the interim role after Ruud van Nistelrooy was reportedly ruled out.
