‘Incredible’ Man Utd star open for January move after Amorim’s ‘struggling’ comment
Manchester United teenager Harry Amass is reportedly considering leaving Sheffield Wednesday in favour of Stoke City.
The 18-year-old is a Watford youth product who made the jump to Carrington in 2023. Last season, he earned his debut under Ruben Amorim in March due to an injury crisis.
Amass was hailed for ‘incredible strength’ , but the manager opted to drop him from his plans this season so he could go out on loan and earn valuable playing time elsewhere.
The 18-year-old ended up joining Sheffield Wednesday in August and has now cemented himself as the club’s best performer, winning back-to-back Player of the Month awards in November and December.
However, the Owls are enduring a calamitous campaign that began with a point deduction due to the club’s woeful financial situation.
Wednesday have only registered a single win in the Championship this season, as they still have a negative tally of -7.
The club’s doomed situation prompted a controversial comment from Amorim last month. The Portuguese manager was, at the time, asked about the lack of playing time handed out for United’s academy products, and he decided to bring up the situations of Amass and Chido Obi .
“Amass is now struggling in the Championship. Chido is not always a starter in under-21s. All these guys played when a lot of people were saying sack the manager!” argued Amorim.
Obviously, the manager was referring to Wednesday’s miserable campaign rather than Amass’ form, and but this comment still drew a cheeky reaction from the teenager, who posted a photo of himself on Instagram with the Player of the Month award with a laughing emoji, before swiftly deleting it.
