Frank Lampard already 'strong contender' for Premier League job after exit bombshell

Frank Lampard is said to be among the top contenders to succeed Oliver Glasner once the Austrian leaves his post as Crystal Palace head coach after catching the eye with Coventry City .

The former Chelsea and England legend, 47, has earned plenty of plaudits for the fine job he has done since succeeding Mark Robins at Coventry back in November 2024. Lampard has guided the Sky Blues to the Championship summit after falling short in the play-offs last term, losing just four league games this season.

With Lampard rehabilitating his reputation at Coventry after a disappointing stint back at the helm of Chelsea in an interim capacity, his success has not gone unnoticed . And that could lead him back to London, according to a new report.

TalkSPORT claim that the Crystal Palace owner, Steve Parish , is a huge admirer of Lampard, who has amassed more points than any other Championship club since taking the Coventry job, and could turn to the former Derby County boss in the Eagles' search for a new head coach when Glasner departs.

While it remains to be seen if Lampard would consider leaving Coventry given they are currently on course to clinch promotion to the Premier League , he is likely to feature in Palace's thinking when it comes to deciding their next boss.

Getafe’s Jose Bordalas and the Rayo Vallecano head coach, Inigo Perez, are two other names admired by Palace.

Glasner revealed he would be quitting Selhurst Park at the end of the season in an explosive press conference last week - just minutes after confirming that Palace were selling their club captain, Marc Guehi, to Manchester City .

And he then unleashed a fresh attack on the club hierarchy after Saturday's 2-1 defeat away at Sunderland , saying he felt "abandoned" in the wake of Guehi's move to City, which was finalised on Sunday.

His comments prompted speculation that he could be removed from his post early by Parish just 24 hours later. However, it has since emerged that Palace expect Glasner to see out his contract until the end of the season following talks with the former Eintracht Frankfurt chief.
