Storm Goretti has caused widespread disruption across the UK and several football matches have been postponed due to the snow and freezing temperatures.

Amber weather warnings for most of the UK remain in place on Saturday, while the Met Office has warned that further ice, snow and wintry showers are likely to affect many parts of Scotland and northern England on Sunday.

One FA Cup third-round tie has already been called off as Salford City announced on Friday that their game at home to Swindon Town could not go ahead due to a frozen pitch.

A statement from Salford read: ‘Despite the best efforts of the ground staff, there are still parts of the pitch that are frozen, and the decision has been made early in conjunction with the FA and Swindon to prevent unnecessary disruption to travelling supporters.’

Several games across League One, League Two and the National League have been postponed on Saturday morning following pitch inspections.

In Wales , every fixture in the JD Cymru Premier was postponed on Friday due to the effects of Storm Goretti and have been rearranged for Tuesday evening.

Across Scotland, several matches have also been postponed due to the freezing conditions.
