Sir David Beckham has sent a touching tribute to legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson as he celebrates his 84th birthday. Beckham, 50, spent several years under Ferguson's guidance at Old Trafford.
The Scottish boss, who arrived at United in 1986, brought Beckham to the club five years after taking charge. The midfielder was among the celebrated Class of '92, which included Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville , Phil Neville, Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes, who secured the FA Youth Cup triumph in the 1991/92 campaign.
The Leytonstone native then earned his senior debut in September 1992 before cementing his place in United's starting eleven. Beckham clocked up 394 first-team outings for the Red Devils, netting 85 times whilst laying on 121 assists.
His trophy haul included six Premier League crowns, two FA Cup victories and one Champions League triumph. The former England captain clearly holds fond memories of his Old Trafford days.
On Tuesday morning, he marked Ferguson's New Year's Eve birthday milestone with heartfelt social media posts.
His first Instagram story featured a training ground snap alongside Ferguson, captioned: "Happy birthday boss [red love heart emoji] @manutd."
A follow-up post, showing him putting pen to paper on his maiden United deal, read: "Have the best day boss [red love heart emoji] @manutd."

Beckham departed United in the summer of 2003 to join Real Madrid for £32.3million. He went on to feature 159 times for Los Blancos before switching to LA Galaxy, AC Milan and then wrapping up his career at Paris Saint-Germain.
While he tasted success after his United exit, his time under Ferguson at Old Trafford remained his most cherished period, racking up more appearances there than at all his other clubs put together.
In 2021, Beckham reflected on his bond with Ferguson . "The sense of community and family that Sir Alex ensured we all felt was so important," the former United star told premierleague.com.
"I was lucky to be in a team that I had supported since I was a boy and with a group of players who I had played with for such a long period of time.
"That made us all so much closer as a team. We all fought for each other on the pitch every second.
"Sir Alex was an incredible manager and there's no way we would have been able to achieve what we did without him. He will always be an inspiration to me."
