🚨 BREAKING: Chelsea set English record for financial losses

Chelsea have posted an English record financial losses for the 2024/25 season.

Figures released by UEFA showed the west London club's pre-tax deficit for the campaign in which they won the FIFA Club World Cup stood at £355m.

That figure marks the highest ever domestically and is only eclipsed in European football history by Barcelona's £484m losses for the 2020/21 season.

UEFA's figures revealed that the Blues' significantly underperformed in revenues generated compared to their Premier League rivals with just £511m brought in.

Manchester City commanded £746m while Liverpool accrued £744m in that period.

Ticket sales also fell £28m behind the Anfield outfit and averaged £1.2m less per match day than Arne Slot's side, who sit one place ahead of them in the rankings.

Despite being dwarfed by their top flight counterparts, Chelsea were still the sixth-highest spending club in Europe for wages with players paid £388m in 2024/25.

According to UEFA's report, their playing squad is the most expensively assembled in football history with £1.52bn spent on the team led by Enzo Maresca at that time.

However Stamford Bridge sources told the BBC that they are confident they will remain compliant with the European governing body's financial fair play regulations.
