Barcelona winger set to start Super Cup semi-final despite recent scare

According to a report from Javier Miguel , it has come to light that Lamine Yamal is certain to be included in Barcelona’s starting XI for the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Club.

Despite some concerns over his physical condition in recent days, the feeling within the club is increasingly positive regarding his availability.

Notably, a day before the crucial semi-final, it was confirmed that Yamal did not take part in Barcelona’s final full training session.

That absence naturally raised doubts, especially given the importance of the fixture and the winger’s growing influence in the team.

As such, the reason behind his absence was clarified and appears to be far from alarming.

Yamal has been dealing with a stomach virus for several days, which left him feeling weakened and prompted the coaching staff to manage his workload carefully.

As a precaution, he was kept out of collective training and instead carried out specific recovery and gym-based work.

The decision was taken to avoid unnecessary risk rather than because of any serious medical concern.

Crucially, those close to the situation insist that the issue is minor. The young winger is responding well, and there is confidence that he will be physically ready to feature against Athletic Club.

According to Javier Miguel, Yamal is not expected to have any problem starting the match, with his condition improving steadily in the final hours leading up to kick-off.

Interestingly, this is not the first time such a scenario has played out this season.

Just days before the Catalan derby against Espanyol, the youngster also missed a training session.

On that occasion, concerns were quickly put to rest when he not only made the matchday squad but also delivered one of his best performances, playing a decisive role in securing the victory.

That recent precedent has reinforced Barcelona’s approach. The technical staff trust Yamal’s recovery capacity, especially given how he has consistently responded positively after minor setbacks.
