Aston Villa are reportedly reigniting their interest in former loanee Tammy Abraham as they look to bolster their squad for the second half of the season. Unai Emery's side currently sit in third place in the Premier League table, and are just six points behind leaders Arsenal .

This has sparked chatter about them being part of the Premier League title race between now and the end of the season. If they are to mount a challenge, then January signings would certainly aid their cause.

The Telegraph reports that Villa are 'eyeing' a move for Abraham, who has been on their radar in previous transfer windows. The ex-Chelsea striker is currently plying his trade with Turkish side Besiktas on loan from AS Roma.

He has turned heads with his prolific goalscoring record in Turkey during the first half of the season.

However, it's said that securing Abraham's signature could be a complex affair. This is primarily due to his season-long loan deal with Besiktas, which includes an option to make the move permanent in the summer for a fee of £11.2 million, coupled with the player's hefty weekly wages of £115,000.

Abraham became a favourite among Villa fans during a season-long loan stint from Chelsea back in the 2018/19 season. During that campaign, he netted 26 goals in 40 Championship appearances for the club, playing a pivotal role in their promotion back to the Premier League via the play-offs.

Villa have previously expressed interest in Abraham during Emery's tenure. Back in the summer of 2023, an injury reportedly prevented the striker from making a return to Villa Park as the club pursued the player.

It was reported that Villa had agreed a deal with Roma before Abraham suffered an ACL injury on the final day of the season. The striker subsequently joined AC Milan on loan the following summer, before moving to Besiktas on a temporary deal last year.

It's not just Abraham who Villa are reportedly interested in, with former Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher also said to be on their radar. The former England man could leave Atletico Madrid during the January window with Villa showing an interest.

The report also adds that the midlands club are looking for a 'solution' over the situation with Harvey Elliott. The Liverpool man has started just one Premier League game since making a loan move from Anfield back in the summer.

He has not been included in the squad at all for the last 13 Premier League games, and was also absent from the squad for the FA Cup third round clash against Tottenham on Saturday.

But, having made an appearance for Liverpool before joining Villa this season, he will be unable to return to his parent club and join another European side. This is due to rules preventing players appearing for more than two clubs in the same season.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
