We are now approaching a third of the way through the January transfer window and Arsenal are yet to announce any major incomings or outgoings. The Gunners are still in the enviable position of being first in the Premier League and the Champions League tables.
That’s despite a disappointing 0-0 draw at home against Liverpool on Thursday, where Mikel Arteta ’s men had to settle for going six points clear of second-placed Manchester City . Nevertheless, there has been some exciting news from N5 this week.
The club have agreed a new five-year contract with star man Bukayo Saka . Arteta is now looking to tie down a further four players to new deals.
He's also made it clear the club will be active in the transfer market should the right opportunities present themselves. Mirror Football now takes a look at two of the latest transfer rumours involving the north Londoners.
Manchester United have reportedly joined the race to sign Arsenal target Igor Tyjon from Blackburn Rovers. The 17-year-old forward has impressed for Rovers, having made his U21s debut aged just 15 and become a regular in senior matchday squads in recent seasons.
It is claimed the Gunners have had several offers in the region of £1million rejected by Blackburn for the player, though the Championship club are beginning to accept his future lies elsewhere following his refusal to sign a pro contract.
Despite that, The Sun reports Arsenal will now have to fend off rivals United in their pursuit of the England youth team talent. There is a risk that United could hijack the move altogether, having already lured away former Gunners academy star Chido Obi in 2024.

Despite Marc Guehi’s nearly move to Liverpool in the summer, Manchester City and Arsenal are now being strongly linked with the Crystal Palace captain. According to Fabrizio Romano, City believe they can reach an agreement with Palace this month for Guehi, who will not sign a new contract with the club.
City are eager to beat the competition to the defender’s signature by offering a fee now rather than trying to sign him on a free transfer in the summer, especially given their injury crisis. That could give them the advantage over Arsenal, despite Romano claiming Arteta is a big fan of the player.

In contrast to City, Romano claims Arsenal have been calling over a potential deal in the summer. But while the Gunners boss would love to add Guehi to his already spectacular roster of defenders, it is unclear how the Palace man would displace the likes of William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Riccardo Calafiori, who have been so impressive this season.
