Arsenal news: Major Bradley Barcola update as Gunners hijack Liverpool transfer target

Arsenal have kicked off their transfer activity just days into the summer window . The fast-paced nature of elite level football means the north Londoners are already working hard behind-the-scenes to improve their squad, having been crowned Premier League champions last month .

Just days after their Champions League final defeat, 15 Gunners stars joined up with their respective national teams to compete at the ongoing World Cup 2026 , which concludes on July 19. Arsenal forwards Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres have already got on the scoresheet for their countries, while Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice notched assists for England on Wednesday.

Back home in N5, manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are in the process of securing several new signings, believed to be a midfielder, a winger and potentially another forward. The English champions could end up spending around £250million again this summer.

They will return to official club action on August 16, when they face Manchester City in the Community Shield. Now, Mirror Football brings you two major transfer developments involving Arsenal.

Arsenal have hijacked Liverpool ’s pursuit of teenage goalkeeper Phoenix Blayney. Blayney, 15, was signed from Northern Irish side Larne after impressing during his trial with the Gunners.

Blayney chose Arsenal despite also being offered a contract by Liverpool and Nottingham Forest . He was even seen at Anfield wearing a Liverpool kit after visiting their training facilities.

But the youngster’s father has confirmed Arsenal won the race, and it is expected he will sign a pre-contract when he joins up with them this summer. He can put pen to paper on professional terms when he turns 17 in November 2027.

Alan Blayney told the Belfast Telegraph: "Everything has been agreed with Arsenal, he just needs to sign the contract. When he's 17, he will sign a professional contract. It's done and dusted and a pre-contract will be signed when the time is right."

Arsenal are reportedly preparing a bid for Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola. The 23-year-old, who recently scored on his World Cup debut for France , has been linked with the Gunners and Liverpool for several months.

But The Independent reports that Arsenal are now looking into the necessary details before lodging an official bid for the winger. Barcola has been reported elsewhere to cost anywhere between £60million and £105m.

PSG ’s preference would be to keep the attacker but they are also open to selling him and reshaping their attack. Meanwhile, Arteta’s main aim in the transfer market this summer is to take his forward line to the next level, with Barcola being seen as someone who can do just that .
