Alan Brazil took fans by surprise with major weight loss on talkSPORT. The popular radio presenter and former footballer was on air with Ally McCoist and Katie Shanahan to discuss Kieran McKenna's links with the Bournemouth job.

The trio were discussing whether the former Manchester United coach would jump ship to the Cherries. However, fans tabled the football discussion to highlight how different the presenter looked.

One viewer wrote: "Jesus what diet has Alan been on? He looks like he's lost loads of weight. Hope he's OK." Another added: "Brazil is losing a lot of weight, he might have to change his name to Alan Paraguay."

A third wrote: "Alan looks the healthiest I've seen him," while a fourth said: "Only just noticed how much weight Alan Brazil [has lost], wowzer."

Compared to a talkSPORT YouTube clip from January 2025, Brazil's face is considerably slimmer. While fans speculate on how the ex-Scotland international dropped the pounds, he admitted earlier in 2026 that some of his friends thought he had died due to his noticeable absence from the radio show.

The 66-year-old was forced to take a two-week absence from talkSPORT in February due to an ear infection that led him to think he was on the brink of collapse. Upon his return, the Glaswegian said: "The big news this morning is I'm alive and kicking.

"I've never had so many texts and emails asking, 'Are you all right? Are you dead? Are you dying?' Give us a break. Honestly. It was my ears. I had a big infection in my right ear, and my left ear was blocked. I was sat here thinking I was going to fall off my chair.

"It's the worst I have been, terrible. These lights (in the studio) don't help. I have said to them to turn the lights down but do they listen? It's stupid."

This wasn't the first time Brazil had been absent from his talkSPORT job after being sacked in 2004 for going AWOL at the Cheltenham Races. The ex-Manchester United striker became legendary for his boozy antics both as a player and a pundit, but he recently admitted life has slowed in his older age.

During a discussion with close friend and fellow talkSPORT star McCoist, Brazil admitted he is more "bored" than anything with life. He said: "I'm bored now, I hardly go out anymore, I don't go to the pub.

"I'm sitting there watching movies and some of them are murder. I've been watching some horse racing, catching up on Dublin ahead of the Cheltenham Festival."

However, despite a more mundane lifestyle, Brazil is still keen on enjoying his life. He previously defended his antics while promoting his autobiography, There's an Awful Lot of Bubbly in Brazil, which was released 20 years ago.
